Minor Skin Surgery Noosa: Cyst & Lipoma Removal
We provide professional surgical management for benign skin lesions. Our experienced team performs excisions in our dedicated treatment rooms, ensuring a focus on clinical safety and comfort.
- Sebaceous Cyst Removal
- Condition: A benign lump beneath the skin caused by a blocked follicle, often filled with keratin.
- Treatment: We perform surgical excision to remove the entire cyst sac under local anaesthetic.
- Why Excision? Unlike simple drainage, excision removes the cyst wall, which significantly reduces the likelihood of recurrence.
- Indications: Recurrent infection, inflammation, or discomfort.
- Lipoma Removal
- Condition: A slow-growing, benign overgrowth of fat cells that feels soft and moves under the skin.
- Treatment: We use surgical excision to remove the fatty tissue and its capsule intact.
- Note: We specialise in surgical removal for complete clearance; we do not use liposuction for this procedure.
The Procedure
- Time: Appointments typically take 20–45 minutes.
- Anesthetic: Local anaesthetic is used to numb the area. You may feel pressure, but no pain.
- Closure: Wounds are closed with sutures (stitches) to support healing and covered with a sterile dressing.
Recovery & Aftercare
- Downtime: Patients can typically return home immediately and resume light duties the next day.
- Activity: Avoid heavy lifting and swimming for 1–2 weeks to prevent wound dehiscence.
- Follow-up: We provide detailed wound care instructions. If non-absorbable stitches are used, a removal appointment is required (usually 7–10 days later).
Scar Management
Our goal is to ensure your skin heals as neatly as possible.
- Standard Care: We use meticulous closure techniques to minimise scarring. Once the wound has healed, daily SPF 30+ is recommended to reduce pigmentation.
- Further Options: If redness or texture concerns persist after healing (12+ weeks), we can discuss management options such as medical peels or skin resurfacing.
